The boldest shape in our flat-rim urli range: a hammered gold water bowl set into a corona of long, pointed sunflower petals that radiate out to 16 inches. There are no small cups here — it is one continuous flower, which is why it photographs so well from above and why people use it as the single centerpiece rather than one of a group.

Product details

  • Set of 3 flat-rim urli bowls
  • Small: 6 inch inner bowl, 12 inches overall
  • Medium: 8.5 inch inner bowl, 14.5 inches overall
  • Large: 10 inch inner bowl, 16 inches overall
  • Total weight of the set: approx. 1.8 kg (4 lb / 64 oz)
  • Material: iron with a gold polish finish
  • Centre bowl: hand-hammered
  • Rim: long solid sunflower petals — decorative, not candle cups
  • Handmade in India

Why this one

  • One big flower, not a ring of parts. The petals are long, solid and slightly curved, so the whole piece reads as a sunflower from across the room instead of resolving into detail only up close.
  • The heaviest of the six flat-rim sets at 1.8 kg for three — about 4 lb / 64 oz, a third more than the lighter sets. The petals are what carry that extra metal.
  • Hand-hammered centre bowl. Fill it with water and float marigold heads or a single candle.
  • Three sizes, 12 to 16 inches overall, with 6, 8.5 and 10 inch water bowls.
  • Also made in pink. Same piece, magenta petals, gold centre — linked below if that suits your table better.

Which rim do you want?

We make six flat-rim urli sets in this shape. The bowl is much the same on all of them; what changes is the collar around it — and whether that collar holds candles.

  • Lotus petal — pointed lotus-bud cups, each holds a tealight. 12–16 in across.
  • Om — diya-shaped cups in ivory and gold, each holds a tealight. 11–16 in across.
  • Diya — fluted lamp cups, all gold, each holds a tealight. 11–15 in across.
  • Rose — solid gold rosettes, decorative only. 9.5–12.5 in, the most compact set.
  • Sunflower — this set. Solid gold petals, decorative only. 12–16 in, the heaviest set.
  • Sunflower Pink — the same petals in pink with a gold centre. 12–16 in.

Where it works

Dining table centre, using the 16-inch alone. Entrance floor at Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi. Wedding and reception tables, where the flower shape does the decorating and you only need water and petals. Overhead photography — this is the set that shows up best in a flat-lay, which matters if you are styling for an event.

Gifting

A Diwali, griha pravesh and wedding gift with more presence than its price suggests, mostly because of the scale. Also a good summer or housewarming gift where a very traditional piece would feel out of place.

These go out as gift sets often enough that we keep stock deep. If you need several — wedding favours, a Diwali order for a team, return gifts for a large function — email contact@urliutsav.com before you order. Bulk pricing is available and we will confirm quantities and timing with you first.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put tealights in the petals?
No. The petals are solid and flat — there are no cups. Float a candle in the centre bowl, or set separate diyas on the table around the piece. If you want a rim you can light, choose the Lotus, Om or Diya sets linked above.
What is the difference between this and the pink one?
Only the colour. Same shape, same three sizes, same weight, same price — gold petals here, magenta pink petals on the other, both with a gold hammered centre.
Are the candles or flowers included?
No. You get the three bowls.
How heavy is it?
About 4 lb for the set — the heaviest of our flat-rim urlis, though still pressed sheet iron with a gold finish rather than cast brass.
How much space does the large one need?
A clear 16 inches. The petals stick out past the bowl, so measure the full diameter, not the water bowl, when you are checking it fits a table or a shelf.
Do the three nest for storage?
They stack loosely rather than nesting tightly. Put a cloth between them so the petals do not scratch each other.
How do I clean them?
Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Do not soak them, do not put them in a dishwasher, and dry them fully after you empty the water out. Abrasive scourers and harsh cleaners will wear the gold.
Can they go outside?
For an evening on a covered patio, yes. Not for permanent outdoor use: they are iron underneath and will rust if they are rained on or left damp.
What if something arrives damaged?
Shipping is insured. Send a photo to contact@urliutsav.com and we will replace the piece or make it right.
Can I return them?
Yes, within 30 days in original condition and packaging. Return shipping is arranged and paid by the customer.
