Why this one

• The rim is made of lamps, not decoration. Each cup is a proper diya form with a fluted body and a scalloped lip, and each one is dished for a standard tealight.
• The most lit-up of the six flat-rim sets when it is fully loaded, because the diya cups sit closer together than the petal rims do.
• Hand-hammered centre bowl. The dimples break up reflected candlelight instead of throwing it back flat.
• Three sizes, 11 to 15 inches overall, with 6, 8.5 and 10 inch water bowls.
• 1.37 kg for the set of three — about 3 lb / 48 oz. One reviewer called it lighter than expected, so here is the honest version: this is pressed sheet metal, not cast brass, and that is what makes a 15-inch piece affordable.

We make six flat-rim urli sets in this shape. The bowl is much the same on all of them; what changes is the collar around it — and whether that collar holds candles.

• Lotus petal — pointed lotus-bud cups, each holds a tealight. 12–16 in across.
• Om — diya-shaped cups in ivory and gold, each holds a tealight. 11–16 in across.
• Diya — this set. Fluted lamp cups, all gold, each holds a tealight. 11–15 in across.
• Rose — solid gold rosettes, decorative only; the candle goes in the centre. 9.5–12.5 in, the most compact set.
• Sunflower — solid gold petals, decorative only. 12–16 in, the heaviest set.
• Sunflower Pink — the same petals in pink with a gold centre. 12–16 in.

Where it works

The entrance floor at Diwali, which is what this shape is for. Dining and coffee tables. Pooja room, for water, flowers and lamps together. Function and reception tables — all three sizes down the centre of a long table. They lie flat, so they stack away between festivals.
