36-Inch Mandala Mirror Wall Art – Hawa Mahal Pink
36-Inch Mandala Mirror Wall Art – Hawa Mahal Pink

Three feet of dusty rose, white and slate blue, worked in concentric rings around a 12-inch mirror. Of the four mandalas we make at this size, this is the busiest and the softest — dozens of narrow bands rather than a few bold ones, so from across a room it reads as a single blush-toned disc and only resolves into pattern as you approach.
How it is painted
Freehand, from the centre outward, with no stencil. The difficulty here is not the colour but the count: each ring has to divide evenly around a circle three feet across, and the artisan holds that spacing by eye. Look closely at any two opposite segments and you will find them near-identical but not identical.
Why Hawa Mahal
The Hawa Mahal is the pink honeycomb palace in Jaipur — 953 small windows in a facade of rose sandstone, built so the women of the court could watch the street unseen. The palette comes from that stone. It is the one mandala in the set named for a building rather than a landscape.
The other three take their colour from places too: California Poppy, Hawaii Rainforest and Peacock.

Where it goes
It is the most forgiving of the four in a room that already has a colour scheme, because the rose and slate sit quietly against most walls. Over a mantel, above a console, on a landing. Photographed here on a teal wall, a warm white wall and a charcoal wall — it holds all three.
Check the size before you buy
Cut a 36-inch circle out of newspaper and tape it where you plan to hang it. Three feet is larger than a photograph suggests, and it is worth five minutes to be sure.
Hanging it
Two hooks on the back, not one, so a disc this size cannot rotate out of true. At 5.6 kg both fixings should go into studs or rated drywall anchors. Two people: one to hold, one to mark. Screws and wall anchors are not supplied.
Care
Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Glass cleaner on the centre mirror only, applied to the cloth rather than sprayed.
Frequently asked questions
How pink is it?
Dusty rose rather than bright pink — closer to sandstone than to fuchsia, with white and slate blue rings breaking it up. It is not a loud piece despite its size.
Is the centre a real mirror?
Yes — real glass, 12 inches across.
Which of the four is the boldest?
California Poppy, by some distance — orange on black. This one is the quietest. Peacock and Hawaii Rainforest sit between them.
