Silk parasols printed in gold on five ground colours - red, orange, pink, green and yellow - 25 inches across when open. A set of five is one of each.

What these are

The decorated parasol is standard equipment at an Indian wedding - hung in clusters over a mandap, carried in a procession, or staked along a path. This is the version that catches light: gold floral printing across a silk canopy, so it reads warm under string lights and photographs well at golden hour.

Why this one

Gold print on silk rather than embroidery on cotton, which makes this the brightest of the four canopies under artificial light. The set of five arrives as one red, one orange, one pink, one green and one yellow, so a single set already gives you a full palette rather than five of the same thing. 230 g each, light enough to hang from fishing line.

Where they go

Hung upside down over a mandap or a sangeet dance floor, where the gold picks up uplighting. Clustered above a dining table. Staked along an entrance path. Open behind a photo booth. Over a mehendi seating area. The larger sets are usually bought for ceiling coverage across a hall.

The rest of the range

We stock four canopies in two families. The printed and embroidered ones have a solid canopy worked with mirrors and metallic thread - these read as colour from across a room. The cutwork lace ones are perforated, so light comes through the pattern and they photograph as texture rather than as a block of colour.

Which colours are in a set?

One each of red, orange, pink, green and yellow in a set of five, and multiples of that mix in the larger sets. If you need a single colour only, email contact@urliutsav.com before ordering.

Is the canopy silk or cotton?

Silk. The gold is printed onto a silk canopy rather than embroidered onto cotton. If you want the cotton version, that is the Bandhani parasol linked above.

Are these waterproof? Can I use them in the rain?

No. These are decorative parasols, not rain umbrellas. The canopies are unlined cotton or silk - some of them perforated on purpose - so rain goes through. Keep them dry and they will last through many events.

How do I hang them?

Most people hang them upside down from the canopy using fishing line or thin wire through the rib tips, or stake the handle into the ground outdoors. The shaft is a slim wooden pole, so it takes a zip tie or a length of twine easily. We do not supply hanging hardware.

Will they all look identical?

No. They are handworked, so the embroidery, the cutting and the placement of the mirrors vary from one umbrella to the next. In a cluster that reads as intentional rather than as a fault.

Can I reuse them after the event?

Yes - that is most of the point at this price. Close them, keep them dry and store them flat or hanging. The fabric creases where it folds; opening them a day early lets the folds drop out.

How do they arrive?

Folded and boxed together, closed, not individually wrapped. Open each one before the event to let the fold lines relax.

How do I clean them?

Spot clean with a barely damp cloth, or dry clean. Do not soak them - the mirror work and the metallic thread do not take washing, and a wet canopy dries misshapen.

What if one arrives damaged?

Shipping is insured. Photograph it, email contact@urliutsav.com, and we will replace it or make it right. Tell us your event date in the same email and we will prioritise it.

Can I return them?

Yes, within 30 days in original condition and packaging. Return shipping is arranged and paid by the customer. Because these are bought to a date, order early enough to open the box and check them with time to spare.
