An eighteen-inch round mango wood stool with a hand-worked top - painted on one version, carved in relief on the other. It stands at nightstand height, takes a large planter without wobbling, and the three legs unscrew for storage.

Why this one

4,250 g - 9.4 lb - of solid mango wood in a piece only eighteen inches across. Weight is what separates a stool that holds a full ceramic planter from one that tips when you knock it. The top is a single disc of mango, either hand-painted with a floral mandala or carved in deep relief, and both are finished on a scalloped edge. The three legs screw into the underside, which is why it ships in a flat box and stores in a cupboard.

Which one do I need

  • Floral Painted - $115. A smooth flat top hand-painted with an orange, yellow and white floral mandala. The colour is the point; it reads brightest in a neutral room.
  • Intricate Carved - $120. A mandala cut into the wood in deep relief with small painted flower accents. It reads as texture rather than colour and sits more quietly.

Same wood, same 18 inch diameter, same 18 inch height, same weight. The difference is entirely in the top.

As a nightstand in a room where a chest of drawers is too much furniture. As a plant stand - eighteen inches of top takes a large ceramic pot and a saucer. Does it need assembly?
Yes, lightly. The three legs screw into the underside of the top by hand. There are no tools, no hardware to lose and no instructions to follow - it takes a minute.
Can I sit on it?
We sell it as a table and a plant stand and we do not publish a load rating, so we will not call it a seat. It is 9.4 lb of solid mango wood on three screw-in legs and it holds a heavy planter without complaint. If you want something built to sit on, the charpai rope stool linked above is.
What is the difference between painted and carved?
The top. Painted is flat and bright - a floral mandala in orange, yellow and white. Carved is a mandala cut into the wood in relief with small painted accents, so you feel it as much as see it. Everything else about the two is the same.
How big a plant will it hold?
The top is an 18 inch circle, so a 12 to 14 inch ceramic planter sits on it with room for a saucer. Use a saucer - the finish is not sealed against standing water.
Will mine look exactly like the photograph?
Close, not identical. Both tops are worked by hand, so the painting and the carving vary a little from piece to piece and the mango grain differs from tree to tree.
Can it go outdoors?
Covered areas for the season - a porch or a screened patio. Not permanently outside. Mango wood moves with humidity and the finish will lift if it is rained on.
How do I clean it?
A soft dry cloth. On the carved top, a soft brush gets the dust out of the relief. Keep sprays and standing water off the surface.
What if it arrives damaged?
Shipping is insured. Photograph the damage, email contact@urliutsav.com, and we will replace it or make it right.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 30 days in original condition and packaging. Return shipping is arranged and paid by the customer.
