A standing wooden case that holds one bottle of wine, hand-painted in deep green and finished with a carved black elephant head on the front. Fourteen inches tall - the height of a wine bottle plus the base - so it presents the bottle upright rather than laying it flat in a drawer.

Why this one
2,010 g - four and a half pounds - of solid mango wood, which is what lets it stand up with a full bottle inside it without tipping. The elephant head is carved separately and fitted to the front panel, so it stands proud of the surface rather than being painted on. The rest is freehand painting: ethnic panel work over a green ground, different on every box.
The pair
This is the green one. The same box is also made in red. They are frequently bought together as a pair for a bar or a sideboard - two bottles, two colours, matching carving.
Where it works
