Ten small urlis, each an eight-inch flower with seven diya cups pressed around a hammered centre dish. Set them down the length of a table and you have seventy points of light from a single purchase. They are bought most often as return gifts, where ten guests each go home with one.

Product details

  • Set of 10 urlis
  • Each urli: 8 inches in diameter
  • Diya cups: 7 per urli, 70 across the set
  • Centre: hammered dish
  • Material: iron with a gold polish finish
  • Handmade in India
  • Not dishwasher safe. Keep dry.

Why this one

  • Ten pieces, seven cups each — seventy tealights in one box. Nothing else in the range gives you that much light for the money.
  • They split into ten gifts. Each one is a complete object on its own, so a set of ten is ten return gifts rather than one item divided up.
  • Traditional diya cups. Each of the seven is pressed in the classic diya shape with a beaded edge, so oil and a cotton wick sit correctly as well as tealights.
  • Hammered centre. The middle of each flower is a shallow dish for petals, rangoli powder or one more tealight.

How people use a set of ten

  • Ten return gifts for Diwali, a housewarming or a wedding — one per guest
  • Scattered down a long dining table or a mandap aisle
  • One on each table at an event
  • Along a staircase or a windowsill for Diwali
  • Kept as a set and brought out together once a year

Where it works

  • A Diwali table, several down the centre
  • A mehndi or sangeet, one per guest table
  • An entryway or a staircase, lit at dusk
  • A mandir shelf, one or two of the ten kept out year-round
  • Wrapped individually as favours

Gifting

This is a gifting product first and a decor product second. Ten pieces at this price works out to a real object per guest rather than a token, which is why it goes for Diwali return gifts, wedding and mehndi favours, baby showers and corporate festive gifting. Each urli is unwrapped and unboxed individually, so you can package them however you like. Need more than ten — get in touch before ordering and we will confirm stock and talk about price at quantity.

Frequently asked questions

How many tealights does the whole set take?
Seventy — seven per urli, ten urlis. Plus the centre dish of each if you want one more.
Can I buy fewer than ten?
It is sold as a set of ten. If you need a different quantity for an event, get in touch and we will see what we can do.
How big is each one?
8 inches across — about the size of a side plate. One of the photographs has the measurement on it.
Oil diyas or tealights?
Either. The seven cups are the traditional diya shape with a lip, so a cotton wick rests correctly. Standard tealights also drop in.
Can I fill it with water?
We would not. The base metal is iron under a gold polish, and standing water will eventually work under the finish and cause rust. Use it dry — petals, tealights, dry flowers — or float things in a separate glass or brass bowl set inside it. If it does get wet, dry it straight away.
Are they individually wrapped for gifting?
They arrive as a set, not gift-wrapped individually. Most people who use them as return gifts wrap them themselves.
Is the gold solid, or a finish?
A finish. These are iron with a gold polish over the top — not solid brass and not plating. That is what puts the price where it is. It will mark if you drag it across a hard surface or knock it, so lift rather than slide it and keep pieces apart in storage. If you want metal that cannot scratch off, our brass urlis are solid all the way through.
How do I clean it?
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. This is iron under a gold polish, so keep it dry — do not wash it, do not put it in the dishwasher, and do not leave it outdoors overnight. Wipe out any spilled wax or oil once it has cooled.
Can I order several for an event?
Yes — get in touch before you order if you need more than a few. We can usually help on price for larger quantities and confirm stock before you commit to a date.
What if it arrives damaged?
Every order is insured. Photograph the box and the piece and contact us, and we will sort out a replacement or a refund.
