A tall trumpet-form vase in brass finished to antique silver: a wide scalloped rim opening out above a fluted collar, a bulbous body engraved edge to edge with flowers, and a domed foot. It is made in two heights, and the 21-inch is the tallest piece we sell in this finish.

Product details

  • Heights: 21 inches or 16 inches
  • Top diameter: 9 inches. Body: 7 inches. Base: 6.5 inches
  • Weight: 2,170 g (approx. 4.8 lb) in the 21-inch
  • Material: brass, nickel-plated and oxidised to an antique silver finish
  • Decoration: hand-engraved floral work, scalloped rim, fluted collars
  • Handmade in India
  • Not dishwasher safe

Why this one

  • 2,170 g in the 21-inch — approx. 4.8 lb. That is what stops a vase this tall from going over when it is loaded with a heavy arrangement.
  • The rim is scalloped, not round. It opens out like a petal edge, which is what lets a wide arrangement sit properly instead of bunching in a narrow neck.
  • Engraved over the whole body. Dense floral work from the foot to the collar, with fluted bands breaking it up.
  • 9 inches across the top. A genuinely wide opening — this takes an armful of flowers, not a posy.

Which height

  • 21 inches, $210. A floor-adjacent or console piece. Commanding, and it needs space around it.
  • 16 inches, $170. The same shape scaled down, for a dining table or a mantelpiece where 21 inches would be too much.

Both are 9 inches across the top, 7 inches at the widest point of the body and 6.5 inches at the base.

Where it works

  • An entryway, as the first thing anyone sees
  • A dining table or a long console, with a full arrangement
  • A wedding or reception entrance, in a pair
  • A mantelpiece, the 16-inch
  • A corner with marigolds for Diwali

Gifting

At 21 inches and nearly five pounds this is a landmark gift rather than an everyday one — a significant wedding, a milestone anniversary, a new family home. It also works as a pair for an event entrance. Plain packaging with no price on it. If you need more than one, get in touch before ordering so we can confirm stock against your date.

Frequently asked questions

How tall is 21 inches in a room?
Nearly two feet. On a standard console it stands well above eye level for someone seated. Measure the space, including anything hanging above it, before choosing this over the 16-inch.
Can I put water and fresh flowers in it?
Yes. We would use a glass or plastic liner inside if the flowers are staying more than a day or two — standing water against a plated surface will mark it eventually. Dried stems and silk flowers need no liner at all.
Will it tip with a heavy arrangement?
Unlikely. The 21-inch weighs 2,170 g empty and the weight sits in the foot. Fill it in place rather than carrying it full.
Is the 16-inch the same shape?
Yes, the same trumpet form, scalloped rim and engraving, scaled down.
Is this German silver?
Not literally, and we would rather say so plainly. German silver — also sold as nickel silver — is a copper, nickel and zinc alloy that contains no silver in it at all. This piece is brass, nickel-plated and then oxidised so the darkening settles into the recesses of the engraving. A lot of this category gets sold as German silver regardless of what is actually underneath, so it is worth knowing which you are buying.
Is the opening wide enough for a big bunch?
9 inches across, so yes. It is designed for a full arrangement rather than a few stems.
How do I clean it?
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Do not put it in the dishwasher and do not use abrasive scourers or acidic cleaners — they will cut through the plating. Between uses, store it in a sealed plastic bag; that slows tarnishing more than anything else you can do.
Will it tarnish?
Silver plating darkens over time, and the antique finish is designed to sit in the recesses and deepen the pattern as it does. That is the intended look. If you want it brighter, a light buff with a dry cloth on the raised areas will lift it.
Can I order several for an event?
Yes — get in touch before you order if you need more than a few. We can usually help on price for larger quantities and confirm stock before you commit to a date.
What if it arrives damaged?
Every order is insured. Photograph the box and the piece and contact us, and we will sort out a replacement or a refund.
