A bajot, also called a chowki, is a low wooden platform used to raise deity idols, a kalash or a puja thali off the floor during ritual. This one adds two storage drawers underneath, so your kumkum, incense and karpoor live with the altar rather than in another room. At 24 inches wide it is also the right riser for a full-size mandir.

What is the difference between a bajot and a chowki?
Nothing — two names for the same thing. Bajot is more common in western India, chowki in the north.
How much do the drawers hold?
Everyday pooja essentials — kumkum boxes, incense packets, karpoor, matches, a small bell. Two drawers across a 24-inch span give you real daily storage, though not bulk storage.
Will it fit under my mandir?
At 24" wide × 12" deep it is sized to sit under a standard 24-inch mandir. Measure your mandir base before ordering if it is a different width.
Can I put a lit diya on it?
Keep the flame on a thali or a metal plate rather than directly on the painted surface, and do not leave it burning unattended.
