These are standing urlis — the shallow Indian water bowl raised onto a stem — and the bowls are pierced right through with a lotus and leaf pattern. Put a tealight in one after dark and the cutouts throw the pattern onto the wall behind. Three heights, 13.5 to 17.5 inches, the tallest set we make.

Why this one
- It projects light. This is the only one of our four lotus sets where the pattern is cut clean through the bowl. Lit from inside, the piercing becomes a shadow pattern on the surrounding surfaces.
- The tallest set of the four. 13.5, 15.5 and 17.5 inches. On a console or beside a doorway they hold their own against furniture.
- Painted leaf detailing on the outside of the bowl, below the cutouts — visible when you look at the piece from the side rather than from above.
- Consistent 8.5-inch bowls. All three are the same diameter, so the set steps up in height cleanly.
- Approximately 1.5 kg for all three — about 3.3 lb / 53 oz — on weighted domed bases.
Which of the four lotus urli sets is this?
We make four sets that look similar in a thumbnail and are quite different in a room. Two things separate them: whether the bowl is pierced with cutouts or hammered, and whether it sits low or stands on a stem.
- Cutout, sitting — Pierced lotus cutouts, short foot, 4.5–7 in tall
- Hammered, sitting — Hammered dimpled surface, short foot, 5.5–8 in tall
- Hammered, standing — Hammered bowls on tall slim stems, 12.5–16 in tall
- Cutout, standing — this set. Pierced lotus cutouts on tall stems, 13.5–17.5 in tall
Where it works
Entryway, flanking the door — the classic use, and the one where the projected light matters most. Console or sideboard in a group of three. Mandap, stage and reception tables. Outdoor evening functions on a covered patio, where the cutouts read against a wall or fence. Pooja room during Diwali, Navratri and Ganesh Chaturthi.
Gifting
The set people buy when the gift needs to make an impression on arrival — griha pravesh, a milestone anniversary, a wedding. Also a straightforward Diwali gift for someone who already owns the usual decor.
These go out as gift sets often enough that we keep stock deep. If you need several — wedding favours, a Diwali order for a team, return gifts for a large function — email contact@urliutsav.com before you order. Bulk pricing is available and we will confirm quantities and timing with you first.
