A hanging brass temple bell on a chain, engraved around the body, in two sizes. The bell is rung on entering a pooja room or a temple - the sound marks the start of worship and, in practice, announces anyone coming through a doorway.
Product details
- Medium: 4 in bell diameter, 33 in overall with chain, 1,860 g (approx. 65 oz / 4.1 lb)
- Large: 6 in bell diameter, 33 in overall with chain, 3,180 g (approx. 112 oz / 7 lb)
- Material: brass
- Finish: gold tone with fine engraved detailing
- Chain included
- Handcrafted in India
Why this one
- Bell and chain together measure 33 inches in both sizes. What changes between them is the bell itself - 4 inches across on the medium, 6 on the large - and therefore the pitch and the carry of the sound.
- 1,860 g or 3,180 g of cast brass. A thin bell rattles; a heavy one rings and holds the note. The large is 7 lb of metal.
- Hand-engraved around the body, so it is worth looking at when it is not being rung.
Which one do I need
Both hang at the same overall length. Choose on the bell diameter, which sets the volume and the depth of the tone:
- Medium - 4 in bell diameter, 33 in with chain, 1,860 g (65 oz). A brighter, lighter ring. Right for a pooja room or an interior doorway.
- Large - 6 in bell diameter, 33 in with chain, 3,180 g (112 oz). Deeper and louder, and nearly twice the weight. For a main entrance, a hall, or a temple space.
Where it works
Hung in a pooja room doorway, at a main entrance, or in a hallway. Also used on covered porches and in restaurants and studios that want one substantial Indian piece at the door.
Gifting
A griha pravesh and housewarming gift. Also given at Diwali, and to anyone setting up a home mandir who has the doorway for it.

The box was entirely too small and thin to handle the weight of the purchase. The box was absolutely destroyed. I recommend you ship these in heavier duty boxes, with more packing and add the option for purchasers to insure their shipments with expedited shipping, especially when shipping across the entire U.S. I honestly don't how the bell wasn't completely destroyed during shipping given how extremely heavy it is.
It’s beautiful just as I wanted it
