24-Inch Mandala Mirror Wall Art – Yellow Lotus Lippan

A ring of lotus petals in pink and green on a golden yellow ground, around a 14-inch mirror, with a scalloped edge that follows the petals rather than cutting across them. It is the warmest and the least formal of our two-foot mandalas — the one that makes a hallway feel lit even when it is not.

How it is painted

Freehand from the centre outward. Each lotus is drawn individually: the green outer leaf, the pink bloom, the fine white outline that separates them. Around the rim they have to space evenly and close the circle without a stencil. Count them and you will find the widths breathe slightly — that is the hand.

Where it goes

Hanging it

Two hooks on the back rather than one, so the disc cannot rotate out of true. At 3.22 kg use screws into drywall anchors, or a stud. Screws and wall anchors are not supplied.

Care

Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Glass cleaner on the centre mirror only, applied to the cloth rather than sprayed.

Is the lotus significant?
The lotus is the standard emblem of purity in Indian art — rooted in mud, opening clean above the water. It appears in almost every regional craft tradition on the subcontinent, which is why it turns up in Lippan work again and again.

Is the centre a real mirror?
Yes — real glass, 14 inches across, big enough to use.

Is the yellow bright?
Warm golden yellow rather than lemon. It reads as sunlight rather than as a primary colour.
