What Lippan art is
Lippan kaam is the mud-and-mirror relief work of Kutch in Gujarat, made for centuries by Rabari women on the inside walls of their homes: clay worked into raised patterns with the fingers, then set with abhla - small mirrors - so a single oil lamp lights the whole room. What you are buying is that technique on a board, hand-worked in India by artisans in Bangalore.

- Orange - teal and maroon petals with golden-yellow accents

All five are the same mandala structure in different palettes, which is exactly why they hang well together. Two or three in a vertical run on a narrow wall is the arrangement that works best.

If you want a figure rather than a pattern, the 18-inch deity panels come in seven designs and are two inches larger, so a mixed group has some size variation. The 23x23-inch white Ganesha is the largest Lippan piece we make.
Care
Dust with a dry, soft cloth or a soft brush - the raised relief holds dust in the grooves. Do not use water or spray cleaner on the clay work. If you want the mirrors bright, wipe them individually with a barely damp corner of the cloth.
