Four round mats that bring Patola pattern to the surfaces you already use. Each one is made in brocade with a Patola design and ringed by a border of gold-tone beads, and every mat is reversible — a different print on each face, so a set of four gives you eight looks to rotate through the year.

Design and craftsmanship

The set brings together four distinct prints: a pink ground with gold paisley, a deep teal Patola scattered with elephant and floral motifs, a yellow and green stripe, and a cream ground worked with red Patola geometry. The beaded edge runs the full circumference, giving each mat a raised rim and a little weight where it meets the table. Handmade in India.

How to style it

In the pooja room, a mat gives a diya, kalash or small idol a defined base instead of standing directly on wood or stone. On a coffee table it works as a coaster for a cup of chai, or as the base for a pair of tealights. Set four around a dining table and they read as placemats with more character than cloth. They earn their place at Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri, when the pooja space gets rearranged and every surface needs dressing — and because the print differs on the reverse, you can flip them partway through the season for a change.

Gifting

A set of four suits a housewarming or griha pravesh, and the individual mats are a practical size for Diwali hampers and return gifts for guests who come for darshan.
