Save the Dates – Urli Utsav Decor's 2026 Bay Area Festive Calendar

There is one morning every late summer when the front room disappears under boxes. Brass wrapped in newspaper, torans folded flat, urlis nested one inside the other like Russian dolls. We unwrap, we count, we photograph — and somewhere in the middle of it, the festive season quietly begins.

This year it begins again, and we would love for you to be part of it in person.

Last season we set up at four melas across the Bay Area, and honestly, the best part was never the till. It was the aunty who picked up a brass diya and told us her mother had one exactly like it in Pune. It was the little boy who asked if the peacock on the samai was real. It was you, telling us where a piece was going to live.

So this year we are doing six. Here is where you will find us. 🪔

Our 2026 Bay Area Festive Calendar

Six events, from a temple courtyard in September to a park on the eve of Diwali. Come say hello at any of them.

📍 Pleasanton Sai Mela 2026

Our first outing of the season, and the gentlest one. A temple mela has a different pace to a street festival — people linger, and there is time to actually talk about what you are looking for.

📍 East Bay Ka Raja — Grand Ganesh Festival 2026

This one is home. Our warehouse is a few minutes down the road, so if you have ever wondered where your order gets packed, this is the neighbourhood. Ten hours is a long day — come whenever suits you, though the Ganpati and the evening aarti draw the biggest crowd after dark.

Ganesh Chaturthi falls on Monday, September 14 this year, so this one lands right in the middle of the festival — the day after San Ramon, if you are making a weekend of it. Come for the nine-foot Ganesha; stay for the urlis and the pooja chowkis.

A street festival, which means the whole of Murphy Avenue turns into one long walk of food, dance and diya painting. Bring the kids. Bring a tote bag — you will need it.

📍 WomenNow Durga Puja & Diwali Festival 2026

Three days, right in the heart of Navratri. This is the one where the wall art and the jharokhas do the talking — people come dressed for puja and end up planning a whole corner of the living room.

The day before Diwali itself. Perfect if you have left your toran shopping to the last minute — and no judgement here, half of us do the same.

What We Are Bringing to the Booth

We pack the van around one idea: pieces that look like they came from your grandmother's home, but sit comfortably in a Bay Area apartment. Expect to find —

Diwali landing on a Sunday this year is a small gift. It means the whole weekend is yours — Dhanteras on the Friday, Choti Diwali on the Saturday, and the main puja on Sunday evening with nobody watching the clock for a Monday morning.

Panchang timings shift slightly by city and by family tradition, so do check your local temple's calendar for muhurat.

Everything is handcrafted in India and then ships from our own warehouse in San Ramon, California — so there is no customs wait, no surprise import bill at the door, and shipping is free and insured across the USA and Canada.

Order early if you are shipping to family in another state. The last two weeks before Diwali are always the busiest of our year.

Come and Say Hello

You will spot us by the torans hanging along the side of the booth and the wall plates propped up in a row. Come and pick things up. Ask us what a piece is made of, where it was made, how to clean it. Tell us about the corner of your home you are trying to fill — that conversation is the reason we do the melas at all.
